Nothing could be more painful than sitting on an uncomfortable chair for long working hours. Altwork station has the solution for all these issues as it has created a reclining work station. Good news for those who had always dreamt of lying down and working.

The outlook

The outlook of the chair might remind of your dentist’s chair but its adjustable work-desk being attached to the chair gives unlimited seating options. The significance of changing posture at workplace is highlighted by the founders of this chair. One can sit and type, stand and type, lie down comfortably and type.

Your PC monitor or laptop is fixed firmly on a metal frame that doesn’t fall on your face regardless of your position. The inverted working desk is also attached below the screen and holds the keyboard and mouse with strong magnets. Overall, it looks like one long steady chair with many pieces attached together.

Having a futuristic approach, the chair looks more like a gadget than a piece of furniture with many buttons on its desk to operate smoothly. These buttons enable the users to change various positions as their body adjusts naturally. The CEO and Co-founder Che Voigt demonstrated the functions of this reclining work in a video released recently.

Does it promote an inactive lifestyle?

Although it may appear that reclining workstation promotes an inactive lifestyle but according to the CEO, the objective is otherwise. Voigt hopes that people will actually change their position more frequently once they use this adjustable chair. He says they don’t want people to spend the whole day lazing around.

The CEO claimed that this automated chair makes changing positions quick and easy while boosting concentration through reclining.

Although there is no scientific evidence stating that lying down while working increases concentration but studies support that changing position does help.

The company has sent a working model of this chair to a team of ergonomists in order to check its suitability for the well-being of humans. It provides support to legs, back of the arms and also keeps the monitor at a constant same distance from your face in every position.

Recliner being a heavy equipment weighs 210 pounds and costs a whopping $5,900. The innovative chair is expected to become commercial by mid-2016 which a California based start-up is working for five years. Currently pre-orders are being booked before time at a discounted price.

Let’s hope this novelty can release some pressure from workaholics who constantly keep moving their fingers for 8-10 hours while keeping a stiff posture.
