The technology which was difficult to obtain some years ago is now in the custody of Sindh Police’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD). The acquisition of immensely expensive 4G phone locator system will enable the department to trace all the smartphone calls across Sindh.
No Place to Hide for Abductors, Terrorists
The new tracking system will empower police detectives to determine the precise location from where a phone call was made. This move will greatly assist the Police in case a terrorist, robbery, kidnapping, blackmail etc activity is taking place.
While speaking about the latest technology, the Police source stated:
“In fact, the Sindh police have acquired two 4G mobile phone call locators. These have been handed over to the CTD for use in the entire province….The CTD SSP has been appointed the focal person for the entire department who could be approached by any unit of the Karachi police with a request for the use of the system”
It is worth mentioning that the representatives of CTD have undertaken the training session by practically using the equipment. The system will work in such a manner that if the department receives a request from any unit/section of the law-enforcement agency then they will instantly move to the exact location of the activity via using 4G phone locator.

The new system will also create a solid relationship between the citizens of the province and the Police. In addition, it is expected that the new development shall help people restore faith in Police department especially when Police would be able to respond promptly to any uncalled for event.
The Police source further added:
“The sets acquired by the police have been locally designed and developed. They have been effectively used for tracing criminals and kidnappers in the interior of Sindh. Several groups were busted using the technology”
While the Police has been familiar with the 4G phone locator for the past couple of years, this technology is more modernized and up-to-date which will be utilized for tracing smartphone calls. It is pertinent to mention that Sindh Police used to operate 2G and 3G enabled technologies but this new system will further augment their investigation capabilities.
