Careem is a Dubai-based popular ride-hailing service which initiated its operations in Pakistan last year. The service is currently available in big cities of Pakistan like Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. However, they have recently announced to expand their wings by introducing their service in 5 more cities of Pakistan. Although, Careem has never officially revealed the number of rides but they are anticipated to be in thousands per month.

Expansion in 5 different cities

The company will start its operations in the following cities of Pakistan:

1- Faisalabad
2- Gujranwala

According to the last census that took place in Pakistan in 1998, all these 5 cities are home to 6.5 million. However, the new number must have touched 10 million at least in last 18 years. The idea to launch the service before the competitor (Uber) is commendable from Careem knowing their market is growing in other cities of Pakistan as well.

The date of the launch is not yet publicized by the company. However, Careem is firm about initiating the ride-hailing service in couple of weeks.

At present, Careem’s biggest competitor in Pakistan is Uber which is facing some challenges in catering the needs of the people. In addition, they are also lagging behind with the customer service due to lack of proper service center in Pakistan.

By announcing to start the ride-hailing service in 5 more cities of Pakistan, Careem will have to recruit a team of suitable professionals in all the cities to ensure the smooth operations of the company. Moreover, they will also need to train their drivers who are dubbed as captains because the security and safety of the passengers hold utmost importance.
