A Rare Occurance: Kaymu.pk Issued Notice For Dishonest Marketing Practices

On Tuesday, the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has issued a show cause notice to Kaymu.pk (an e-commerce portal) for dishonest marketing practices.

The CCP, in a statement, said:

“The notice is issued in regards to the resolution of disputes between buyers and sellers, return policy, payment and shipping methods, and vague terms and conditions thus deceiving consumers in violation of Section 10 of the Competition Act, 2010”

Action Taken Upon the Complaint of a Customer

The commission took the necessary action, by issuing a show cause notice to Kaymu.pk, after it received complaints against the online shopping portal. The complainant alleged the platform for deceptive marketing practices and that they have been involved in different damages.

Moreover, the petitioner also alleged Kaymu.pk that it empowers sellers to compel fraud and deceive the buyers about services which are offered especially at the time of placing an order and also after the deal has taken place between the two parties.

What Did The Inquiry Report Discover?

When the commission conducted the inquiry, they discovered Kaymu.pk to be deceiving its customers. Additionally, the online shopping portal also neglects fair warning concerning to the return policy of the seller.

The report further found out that the platform also fails to act as an honest negotiator between the buyer and the seller. The company also fails to liberate itself from endorsing the trustworthiness of the sellers on its website.

In addition, the notice also exposed that Kaymu.pk offers multiple delivery and shipping options to the customer. However, those options are just not available in reality.

Conclusion

In the end, the inquiry report suggested that Kaymu.pk has indeed been involved in providing bogus, untrue and misleading information to the customers. Subsequently, it can also have an adverse effect on the business interest of other competitors.

The aforementioned reasons were exactly why CCP issued show cause notice to Kaymu.pk.
