Rehman Presents The Case of Digital Pakistan as The Foremost Priority of The Government at Davos

Pakistan’s top priority is to develop Digital Pakistan, with main focus on ‘Bridging the Broadband Divide’, and through innovation we can be sure to enable socio-economic development, opined Anusha Rehman, Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT).

At the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, the Minister shared Pakistani ICT performance with South Asia’s ICT Ministers. Rehman said that Pakistan’s main goal is to become a socio-economically developed country. In addition, it also aims to provide the best living standards to its citizens.

Managing Board of the Forum has specially invited Anusha Rehman to attend WEF 2017 in Davos. She is acting as an essential speaker and contributor at the main events of the Digital Economy track.

While addressing a session about “A Magna Carta for the Internet”, the Minister said that it is important to build harmony among a set of international standards. This is really important as to strengthen and enhance cooperation among states and stabilize and secure the online cyber platform.

Additionally, she also enlightened that the offline rights of the online users should also be protected. This will help all the businesses and sectors to have secure universal access to the internet.

Attaining Global Digital Revolution

At the main event, the minister added that such events can improve global efforts and strategies to gain benefits of Digital Pakistan. Along with enabling extensive interaction of our people, it will also contribute to fulfill our goals to achieve digital Pakistan.

To attain Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) till 2030, the global community has set standards for itself. The Minister, in light of achieving these goals proposed global partnership and national policies to determine strong targets.

As a special invitee by the British Prime Minister, Teresa May, the Minister is sure to attend further sessions during her tour to the WEF event. Rehman will be attending sideline meetings with industry and business leaders as well at the Davos Summit.
