Engineers from Hyderabad creates entrance test portal: Unipedia

A team from Hyderabad has prepared a portal, Unipedia that aims to assist students to pursue their career options. It is a one-stop portal for those who are hoping to get into a university of their own choice. This entrance test portal has a comprehensive database which prepares students for various tests including ECAT and MCAT.

Unipedia has thorough details of bachelor’s programs of all major universities. It will enable students to make informed decisions. It has mock entrance tests with customized time limits which are very similar to actual entrance tests set by universities. In addition, these tests also have an inbuilt tracking and review system.

The brains behind Unipedia

Two visionaries from Hyderabad, Ali Gohar and Musbashir Ahmed, came up with this idea to develop a website. The idea was to provide a platform to students so that they can prepare for their tests in a simulated environment. Being graduates of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, this notion matched their expertise completely. They planned a portal where students can prepare themselves for specific topics. The key ingredient of this website is its time management factor.

The duo moved from Hyderabad to Karachi to attend an incubation program at NEST I/O for four months to fine tune their product. Consequently, a startup was established at P@SHA’s Tech Incubator.

Ali Gohar believes that innovation becomes the least priority as students get stuck in the rut of routine and boring lectures. There is excessive focus on getting high grades not only by parents but also by academic institutions. Therefore, learning and creativity is badly ignored.

Distinctive features of Unipedia

The most prominent feature of Unipedia is its focus on individual attention to every student while giving a mock test. These tests are evaluated and personal feedback is given in the form of graph based illustrated results. Students are often confused regarding their performance and despite spending a fortune on tuitions; they fail to get the right feedback.

The performance review given by Unipedia helps students analyze their strengths and weaknesses. Moreover, it also helps them to choose the right program.

Ali stated that Unipedia focuses on self-assessment so that students can channelize their efforts and money towards the right path. Ultimately, they will choose a career that polishes their talent and fosters learning.

Do you look forward to use this portal in pursuing your studies/career?
