“The Incubator” – GIK Institute Launches Its First Startup Incubator on 16th February

Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering, Sciences and Technology (GIK Institute) is all geared up to launch its first ever entrepreneurship program, The Incubator, on 16th February (Thursday) 2017. The launch ceremony will take place at the institute premises.

The Directorate of Science and Technology and Ministry of ST & IT KPK provided a grant of Rs100 million to GIK Institute in 2015. The grant was released for the formation of Technology Incubation Centre to be named as The Incubator.

What Will It Offer?

Aiming to develop into the leading startup program of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, The Incubator, is a stage for all the fresh graduates and budding startups. The Incubator will equip them with the following facilities:

  • Coaching and mentoring
  • Computer systems
  • Workspace
  • Technical assistance
  • Telephone and fax
  • Uninterrupted internet services
  • Legal backing in intellectual and property protection and company formation

To cultivate the strong ideas of the graduates and emerging startups, the incubator will also provide an entrepreneurial atmosphere under the guidance of mentors and coaches, faculty and industry experts.

The Incubator is now ready to go live since it has been successfully tested in the beta stage. Number of startups were incubated to test-run everything before the official launch. In addition, the incubator endeavors to mend the notion of marketability and entrepreneur skills in members working in any area. Subsequently, this will eventually help in stimulating economic growth and reducing poverty in the country by building private enterprises.

Initiatives like these will only assist startups in the longer run. It can be safely stated that there might be some additional developments in the province. As a result, such efforts will help in bringing digital revolution in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well as in Pakistan on the whole.
