Google holds its first session on monetizing products at IBA

In the first ever talk by the tech giant Google, a team of two experts from the company conducted the first session at Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi, reported by ProPakistani. The team trained students, writers, bloggers, designers, and app/web developers under ‘Google for Publishers’ initiative. The session took place at the G&T auditorium of IBA main campus.

The informative session was conducted by two experts who flew all the way from Singapore. Waqas Burney, Manager (Web) and Ahmed Nawaz, Manager (Apps) explained the audience about monetization products, AdSense and AdMob. Both these experts work for the South Asia region, Google Singapore for over a year.

Earning money through AdSense

Waqas Burney initiated the session on AdSense by informing the audience that the users, publishers and advertisers can earn ample amount of money by displaying ads and videos on their website while using AdSense. In addition he said that anything from 100 to 50,000 dollars can be generated on a monthly basis.

The discussion was followed by the introduction of two monetization products: AdSense and AdMob. The experts informed the audience that AdSense has over 2 million members while there are 1 million members on AdWords. During 2015, Google paid a whopping amount of $10 billion to AdSense users.

A user can make money through AdSense if he is a YouTube blogger of a publisher. Google brings only 20% of the publishers on board since they are quite strict about the selection. AdSense connects advertisers with the users and as a result they make money. Leading organizations are currently working with the tech giant in this domain. Bloggers and publishers can earn substantial amount of money by placing advertisements on various web content.

It is important to build audience on the website before monetization. The more traffic on your site, the more revenue you can earn. Some useful tips were shared by Waqas Burney that will benefit the audience in the longer run.

Case studies in the form of some encouraging videos were also shared with the audience. The key objective was to demonstrate the impact AdSense has made in the lives of ordinary people by empowering them financially.

Google AdMob

While introducing another Google tool, AdMob, Ahmed Nawaz shed light on what made a great app and what did users require in an app. He said that the more user friendly and functional the app, the more popular it would be. While presenting an example, Ahmed stated that apps like Angry Bird, MuslimPro and Uber are popular for that very reason.

Dr Shakeel Khoja of the Faculty of Computer Science stated that this initiative from Google is highly positive and encouraging. He hoped that Google will continue to hold such informative sessions for the youth of Pakistan in the future. He thanked the efforts of the two experts profusely and presented them with mementos from IBA Karachi.

The first session was proved to be successful as more than 1100 registrations were received for the session.
