Google Partners With Telenor to Launch an Advanced Messaging Service in Pakistan

Google has been working with the mobile industry on an idea to provide an advanced messaging experience to android users through the RCS (Rich Communications Services). The service will be provided to their 214 million users across Asia and Europe, including Pakistan and India. Some of the other countries like Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Hungary, Montenegro, Serbia, Bulgaria, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Thailand and Malaysia will also get the access.

Google Has Partenered With Telenor

The leading giant has announced its partnership with Telenor to introduce RCS messaging. The advanced RCS SMS feature will be available to the users as a standard part of Android devices.

Android will also standardize group chat, high-resolution photo sharing, read receipts features and more quite soon. Messenger app for Android devices, developed by Google would be upgraded to provide the advance SMS experience to the users. Jibe RCS cloud from Google will back up the service.

Availability of the New RCS Messaging Service

In countries where RCS is introduced, Telenor users having messenger app would be able to access the new service as soon as the app upgrades. On the other hand, Telenor non-users will have to install the messenger app. They can download it from Google Play Store to access the service. Moreover, after collaborating with Telenor, new android smartphones will come with SMS and RCS upgraded Messenger app as default.

This RCS messaging service will support the universal profile of GSMA. GSMA covers more than 58 carriers and manufacturers and 4.7 billion global users. Google has launched the RCS service through US and Canada’s carriers and it is looking forward to introduce the service in more countries very soon.
