Habib University students representing Pakistan at Stanford Summer International Honors Program

Habib University and Stanford University had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) exclusively for Stanford Summer International Honors Program (SSIHP) last year on 15th November. The agreement between two universities primarily gave the students of Habib University an extraordinary access to an educational experience at Stanford University, providing them with unique learning opportunities.

Habib University is a liberal arts and sciences university that offers an interdisciplinary education in an intensely collaborative learning environment while Stanford University, California, is a private research university and one of the world’s leading educational institutions, with the top position in numerous rankings and measures in the USA.

Subsequently, 8 students of Habib University departed for the USA on 17th June 2016 to participate in the SSIHP. The program will give an astonishing opportunity to all the participants to connect with other intellects in the world. The duration of the program is approximately 2 months and over 250 courses will be given to choose from in Humanities and Sciences, Engineering and Earth Sciences.

The crux of the program will be to encourage and motivate participants to engage in dialogues and discussions for the promotion of social and scientific collaboration. There will be students from all over the world and the program also aims at nurturing diversity.

SSIHP is hosting 100 students this year from 20 different universities in 14 countries. 8 of them are representing Pakistan which in itself is a big accomplishment. Moreover, Habib University becomes the first institution from Pakistan to take part in the SSIHP.

Following 8 students will be representing Habib University:

1. Syed Muhammed Hasan Naqvi, Electrical Engineering
2. Osama bin Rizwan, Electrical Engineering
3. Anas Masood, Computer Science
4. Sana Rizwan, Social Development and Policy
5. Moizza Salahuddin, Social Development and Policy
6. Hareem Salman, Social Development and Policy
7. Sumbul Zehra, Computer Science
8. Anusha Fatima, Computer Science

The aforementioned candidates were chosen after a rigorous and hardcore selection process. They were also being told that they will be acting as cultural ambassadors of Pakistan along with representing Habib University at the Stanford University. All these students are from diverse programs at Habib University from the class of 2018.

This is a lifetime opportunity for all the selected participants as the program will expose them to an opportunity, in which they will discover new avenues. Moreover, they will be developed personally and will definitely learn plenty of new stuff with the other young intellects. Sharing their experiences along with having a great time at the program is surely going to give them all an unforgettable summer.
