Hunt for Telenor Youth Forum 2016 begins in Pakistan

Are you a passionate individual about driving a social, economic and environmental change in your community? Do you have enough experience in your kitty to apply for the position? Does your age fall in the bracket of 20-28 in 2016? If the answer to all these questions is YES then good news awaits your attention.

Telenor is on the hunt for young leaders from all around the world (wherever Telenor is being operated) to join their Telenor Youth Forum 2016 later this year. The notion of the event will be to help transform the world by tackling socio-economic challenges through digital solutions.

The event will kick off in Oslo, Norway from 8th to 11th December 2016. The event is partnered with Nobel Peace Center and the successful candidates will also get to attend the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony that is around the same dates later this year as the forum.

The applications for this year’s event are now open and you can try your luck by applying to become one of the two Pakistanis to board on the plane later this year. Telenor Youth Forum 2016 is a youth-centric forum that aims to attract passionate, young, opinion leaders who want to influence the future of Digital throughout the world.

CEO of Telenor Pakistan, Michael Foley, is really looking forward for the applications. He stated that:

“The event – ‘Digitalizing for Peace’ – partnered with the Nobel Peace Center inspires peace, providing an arena for young people with ideas and passion to meet and discuss the issues that matter most in this world. We look forward to applications for the TYF ’16 and a healthy engagement of peace builders of tomorrow at the event”

Michael Foley also believes that youth of any country has the power to change the fortunes and destiny of the country. He added:

“It’s youth that has the power to change the destiny of a country and make it a better place to live. Today, we invite young and forward-looking Pakistanis to join us on the Telenor Youth Forum 2016 platform and present innovative solutions that utilize technology as a key ingredient in the recipe for global peace”

How many participants will be selected from one country???

Telenor will select two individuals from every one of the 13 countries (list mentioned below in the next heading) in the Nordic region, Central Eastern Europe and Asia that the Telecom giant operates in. These 26 candidates will then be invited to attend the Telenor Youth Forum 2016 in Oslo, Norway, in December on an all-expenses-paid trip.

Eligibility criteria and application requirements…

You can apply for the program if you meet the following criteria:

• If your age is between 20-28 in the year 2016
• If you are fluent in English language
• If you are a permanent resident in any of the following countries: Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Denmark, Hungary, India, Malaysia, Montenegro, Myanmar, Norway, Pakistan, Serbia, Sweden and Thailand
• If you are passionate about driving social, economic and/or environmental change in your community with some proven experience
• If you are attending university or have completed higher education
• And if you someone with big ideas and who is willing to make a difference

For Pakistan, the last date to apply is 1st August 2016. Once you submit the application (before the deadline), a panel of judges at Telenor will go through all the applications. In September, all the shortlisted candidates will be informed through an email from the Telenor Group. The candidates will then be scrutinized by local judges and Telenor officials.

Program duration and opportunities…

The selected Telenor Youth Forum candidates will commit to the program for 1 year where they will work as a team to create dialogue and engagement around a social challenge. They will continue to work through the year, with a second gathering in Bangkok, Thailand where the youth will come again to make a difference.

The forum will be offering youth a global stage, opportunities to meet and discuss with leaders from various other countries along with a social and professional experience of a lifetime.
