Korean Exim Bank to establish an IT park in Islamabad, says Anusha Rehman

Pakistan’s Minister of IT & Telecom (MoIT) Anusha Rehman has stated that Korean Exim Bank would be establishing an IT park in the capital of the country, Islamabad. She announced this development at a ‘stakeholders consultation’ event on Wednesday.

While addressing the audience at the event, Anusha Rehman stated:

“In the last few years, we have witnessed a phenomenal growth in our IT Sector due to our appropriate policy measures and strenuous efforts. Therefore, we earned four international recognition awards which speak for our inclination and determination to bring an IT revolution in the country”

According to the reports, a delegation of Korean Exim Bank initially prepared a feasibility report for the establishment of an IT park in Islamabad. Thereafter, they called on Anusha Rehman and shared the striking features, designs and proposed models in detail. Besides, several other technical aspects were also discussed during the meeting which was also attended by the Federal Secretary IT, Rizwan Bashir Khan and many other senior officials from MoIT and PSEB.

Ministry’s stance

After carefully examining the feasibility report, Minister of IT shared ministry’s vision and goals with the delegation of Korean Exim Bank. During the meeting, Anusha Rehman was firm about providing great infrastructure to the IT industry besides leveraging the full potential of IT talent in Pakistan.

The minister further ensured that the establishment of an IT park will also provide a whole ecosystem to IT companies. In addition, affordable space along with power, bandwidth and linkages between industry and academia will also be provided.

The establishment of IT parks will also take place in Lahore and Karachi once it successfully gets its footing strong in Islamabad. Anusha Rehman stressed on the importance of state-of-the-art IT parks in Pakistan during the meeting. As a result, she asked the Korean delegation to accelerate the work for the establishment of IT park in Islamabad.

The formation of IT parks will help IT companies in upscaling their resources. Furthermore, the country will be able to accomplish its actual potential in the global IT industry.
