How to navigate the idea maze as a founder: Tips by Chris Dixon (INFOGRAPHIC)

Three years can feel like a lifetime in the startup game, but some things don’t change that much. Entrepreneur, investor, and Twitter persona Chris Dixon wrote about the concept of “The Idea Maze” in a 2013 blog post, outlining some important factors that startup founders need to keep in mind when they’re trying to turn their vision into a business.

The Idea Maze was coined by Stanford lecturer and Andreessen-Horowitz board partner Balaji S. Srinivasan, as part of a lecture series on Coursera. He wrote:

“A good founder doesn’t just have an idea, s/he has a bird’s eye view of the idea maze. Most of the time, end-users only see the solid path through the maze taken by one company. They don’t see the paths not taken by that company, and certainly don’t think much about all the dead companies that fell into various pits before reaching the customer.”
