PIA embarrasses itself after using stock Indian image for Eid promotional campaign

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has somewhat made a blunder or who knows it could be intentional as they have used Indian stock promotional images for the Eid campaign.

While announcing flat 25% discount and providing relief to the customers during Eid holidays, PIA recycled a family of Indian origin in their promotional image. However, discount validity is for 3 days i.e. from 7th to 9th July and it available for all classes.

In the recently launched promotional campaign, a family of four is shown carrying gifts and standing at an airport while a PIA aircraft stands behind them. Anyone with relatively average Photoshop skills would be able to identify that the picture is clearly photo shopped.

Following image is still uploaded on the Facebook page of PIA.

The image has been taken from imagebazaar.com which is the largest collection website of Indian images and videos. The original picture can be seen below and it further proves our point that the image was indeed taken from imagebazaar.

There were 2 images that were shared for the PIA’s promotional campaign. The first one was edited and put without much editing but since many individuals displayed their reservation, the admins/officials of PIA Facebook’s page removed the picture because the visibility of Indian culture in the image was clearly seen.

PIA Facebook page admins re-edited the same picture by making minor changes and replaced couple of stuff from baby girl and his father’s hand as it is evident in the first image of this article.

The dressing and clothing of all the models also indicate that the family belongs to India especially the traditional Indian attire as well as the Tilaka worn by Indian females on their forehead.

It is still unclear as why PIA, a state-owned company, went with an Indian stock image for its promotional campaign. Even if they bought the image, it is still unfair with the Pakistani audience as they could have easily afforded a Pakistani family for its Eid promotional campaign. Do let us know what do you think about it?
