Safe City Project: Lahore to install high-tech surveillance equipment

Safe City Project is embarked on a new expedition to make Lahore a safe zone after its success in Islamabad. Punjab government, headed by CM Punjab Shehbaz Sharif, held discussions with Huawei Pakistan after the Chinese telecom recently won a bid for the project.

This is indeed good news for all the law enforcement agencies as high quality surveillance equipment will be installed in Lahore, thus facilitating authorities to curtail crime rate.

Many entities participated in the bidding process, but it was won by Huawei Pakistan being the lowest bidder. Besides the surveillance equipment deal, CM Punjab also asked them to launch a health IT solution at a low cost in one of the districts of Punjab. Being an ethical organization, this health project could become part of their Corporate Social Responsibility program.

Major aspects of Lahore safe city plan

After covering all the crucial areas of Islamabad, Safe City project is planning to safeguard Lahore through its high-tech cameras with Facial recognition software. These cameras will transfer CCTV shots to control centers monitored by officials. These footages will be connected through 4G technology.

These videos will be used to keep a check on various criminal activities including car thefts and suspicious activities. Lahore, being a densely populated city is also vulnerable to many security threats which will be curbed to a great extent through this program.

All the major junctions, roads, commercial areas and other important locations will be strictly monitored as previously covered in the capital city.

Huawei healthcare program

Implementing IT solutions produces efficient results in any industry. This is also the prime objective of Huawei’s ehealth program which is claiming to save more lives by aiding medical experts. The ultimate goal is to use data for multiple purposes such as data sharing, providing treatments, and suggesting solutions.

The above mentioned objectives will be met through remote HD video, remote surgery demonstration, teleconsultation, medical video on-demand, and remote doctor visits. According to CM Punjab, if this ehealth program is effectively implemented in Lahore, similar plans will be made for other districts of Punjab.

One cannot deny the commitment of Punjab government for the betterment of the province as it has managed to provide a relatively safe and healthy environment for the people of Punjab.

Safe City Plan and Healthcare program are purely technology driven projects which can undoubtedly serve as an example for other provinces to take some notes.
