The entrepreneurial map of Pakistan is getting changed with every passing day. JumpStart is working for the past 30 months to alter the image of Pakistan through entrepreneurship. At the time of writing this piece, as many as 126 startups are on board. However, Shepherd’s PIE (JumpStart’s flagship) is aiming to take mammoth 1500 startups on board in next 5 years.
The theme of Shepherd’s PIE is very unique in its own manner. It follows the Shark Tank and Dragon Den theme where startups pitch their ideas in front of Shepherds. As a result, startups can either close the deal at that very moment or they can strike the deal in the upcoming days and months.
Shepherd’s PIE started this year with the first round of second cycle of investment pitches from Rawalpindi. Later, the cycle followed Peshawar and Karachi and the next stop is going to be Lahore on 19th November 2016.
Flow of the event
As many as 10 startups will be chosen to present their ideas to look for investment in front of the investor panel. Subsequently, top 3 startups will be nominated as the winners of the event. Later, they will join the group of already picked up 9 startups from Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Karachi. All these startups will later compete with each other in SeedStars regional event in Islamabad on 26th November 2016. Ultimately, the winners of the event will travel to Switzerland for the final SeedStars world.
