Block Your Stolen or Lost Mobile Phone With a Simple App

The Government of Sindh has planned to introduce software which will eventually assist in preventing mobile snatching or stealing. IG Sindh, Allah Dino chaired the high-level meeting on Wednesday where Sindh Government presented the road map of building the software which will empower the mobile users to lock their phones remotely in case it is snatched, stolen or missing.

The meeting was attended by high dignitaries including AIG Mushtaq Maher, DIG Sultan Ali Khawaja and Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) Chief Zubair Habib. The objective of the gathering was to superintend the development in efforts to restrict the menace of street crimes.

How Will the Software Work?

The proposed architecture of the software is compatible to each and every type of mobile phones. Moreover, the software will be automated to record the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number of the mobile device along with the SIM card number.

“When a user will get the SIM card blocked following a theft or snatching, the mobile will be blocked automatically”

It can be safely stated that the new software will assist individuals in the timely retrieval of the mobile phone. Moreover, the stolen phone will become instantly unusable for the snatcher or anyone who gets hold of a lost device. The software can be named internet offline mobile fighter which will help the people of metropolis.

IG Sindh’s Direction

IG Sindh, Allah Dino has instructed all the concerned stakeholders to complete the necessary protocols and present it for the approval. The urgency in the development stage will ensure that the software will become serviceable at the earliest.

In order to cease the overall flow of mobile snatching in Karachi and to present the criminals to the lockup, Allah Dino also gave directions to the Customer and Intelligence Bureau officials to liaise with Special Investigation Unit (SIU) authorities.

Moreover, he also ordered the Karachi Police Chief to handover the street crime offenders to SIU. This will enable suitable investigation and if proven guilty, culprits can be sent behind the bars.

It has been about time to launch software to curb the menace of mobile snatching in Pakistan’s biggest city. It can be hoped that this will subside the ratio of mobile snatching over a period of time. What are your thoughts?
