Thomson Reuters, a citation index originally produced by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI), has recently published a list of ‘world’s most influential scientific minds 2015’. Unsurprisingly, one of the Pakistani researchers, Professor Dr. Aslam Noor was able to make it to the list. Through his impeccable work, Dr. Aslam became the only Pakistani researcher to appear in the prestigious list.
Dr. Aslam Noor is a professor at COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT). He is an accomplished professor in the department of Mathematics in the Islamabad campus of CIIT.
While congratulating Dr. Aslam Noor on the significant global achievement, the registrar of CIIT Professor Dr. Izhar Hussain stated:
“It really is an honor for CIIT that one of its faculty members Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aslam Noor, Eminent Professor Department of Mathematics, Islamabad Campus, has his name among The World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds 2015 in the field of Mathematics”
CIIT has an extremely esteemed Mathematics department. It offers 100 full scholarships at bachelor level each year. The idea is to encourage the young generation of Pakistanis to enter this dynamic field. Subsequently, it will prove to be pivotal to the development of science and technology.
The firm, Thomson Reuters, selected as many as 3000 most scientifically renowned authors. The researchers were dynamic and creative in the production of highly cited reports from a projected 9 million researchers in the world today who produce more than 2 million reports each year. In addition, the authors were chosen by scrutinizing citation data over a recent 11 year period from 2003 to 2013.
Dr. Aslam Noor: Proud Pakistani Researcher
Dr. Muhammad Aslam Noor obtained his PhD degree from Brunel University, London (1975) in Applied Mathematics. Besides having an ample amount of experience in teaching, Dr. Aslam conducted research at university levels in number of countries including Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Canada. In Pakistan, he is recognized as the ‘top scientist and engineer’. Muslim world by OIC recognized Dr. Aslam as ‘top mathematician’.
For all his hard work, Government of Pakistan also awarded him the President’s Award for Pride of Performance in 2008. Moreover, he has also published over 700 research papers in the leading scientific journals. In addition, he is also a member of the editorial boards of many familiar international journals of Mathematics and Engineering Sciences.
