My brother recently had to renew his passport and trust me he had to literally go through a lot of obstacles like many Pakistanis while getting his passport. One of the major hurdles is especially if your current/permanent address in the National ID card is not from the same region where you reside at present.
Somehow he managed to get his passport renewed. After getting holding of the green passport, he told me ‘pata nahe yar yay log apna system online kab karain gy’ [not sure when are they going to reveal their system online (for passport renewal)]. To his and everyone’s relief, NADRA’s online passport system that they have working and developing for quite some time now is finally revealed to be available online and that it will be available very soon in Pakistan.
The online service of passport renewal is available to both overseas and Pakistanis living in Pakistan. Directorate General of passport and immigration alongside collaboration with NADRA has decided to offer Pakistani citizens a service that they were looking to get hold for quite a long time now was to be able to renew their passports online without going to Passport offices.
For your information, service is currently not available, but it is said that service will be made available very soon now.
So anyone with expired passport or less than 7 months validity can now apply for the renewal of passport online to enjoy the perks of service online to get the passport delivered at the designated residential address.
You need to keep in mind the following procedure before applying for the renewal of passport online:
1- You should contain all supporting documents

2- You should have the access of printer and scanner
Printer in the case of print some documents (for fingerprints for instance). While scanner will be required as some documents will have to be submitted in scanned format
3- Debit/Credit card would be needed to submit passport renewal fees

NADRA and passport office will send you your renewed passport to your postal address once your application will be submitted.
The delivery time for the renewed passport will vary from case to case depending upon the range of factors. However, the departments will take typically 10 days for normal processing while 4 days will be taken for urgent process.
Delivery charges within Pakistan will be Rs. 250/- while Rs. 1000/- would be charged to send the passport abroad.
