It isn’t new for young Pakistanis to amaze the world by their enormous talent and it isn’t a novel idea for Pakistani youth to bring innovative ideas to the market. Bilal Ahmed is one wonder kid, an 11 year old, with enormous talent in the field of Robotics. Bilal had great aptitude since childhood coupled with passion for technology which led him to develop his own drone at Microsoft’s Innovative Centre (MIC) in Karachi.
Despite being a little talent, Bilal has made an innovative drone which is entirely made of aluminum and has the capacity to fly upto 1500 feet. It is empowered by GPS and comes with an automatic landing and takeoff mechanism. The drone is created with such maturity that it self-stabilizing which provides itself the capability to reduce air turbulence. It manages to take photos and videos as it is equipped with a built in camera. It also allows the user to check live telemetry data and graphs on a radio controller. The biggest selling point of this drone is that it has been created by immense maturity as it can be used in a variety of extensive uses.
This drone is extremely useful for security purposes and can be used by security agencies as well. Thus we can easily quote that an eleven year old boy has developed a gadget which can be immensity useful for many institutions primarily military organizations.
Bilal was lucky enough to find the right mentor in his institution. From a very tender age Bilal had a flair for technology and was eventually encouraged by his father to learn programming. His ability was observed by his mentor, Ozair Bilal, from Developer Experience and Evangelism (DX) at MIC Karachi, at a local robotic competition. His mentor advised Bilal’s father to make him learn how to integrate a Raspberry Pi 2 for his robots and drones. Later after his mentor taught him all the required fields Bilal managed to successfully built his own quad-copter which was a breakthrough in the field of Robotics.
It would not be an exaggeration to say that Bilal is indeed a wonder kid as he has big dreams for this world. When asked about what triggered him to make this drone he replied by saying that he aspires to make this world a better place by integrating human intellect with robotics. The boy has made many other robots on many other platforms which serve many other purposes.
One day he has a dream of making a “Bionic Suit” which can assist paralyzed people to walk and perform other tedious tasks with ease and less effort. Indeed, a young boy with gigantic dreams. We are very sure that Bilal would go a long way as he has amazing talent combined with right opportunities along with massive support from his mentors and family. This young talent is all set to showcase his inventions on his YouTube Channel called BatLab. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and wish him luck for his upcoming innovations.
