DHA Lahore Announces Its Own Grid Stations For Phase 8 And 9

Much like Bahria Town, DHA Lahore has also announced its own grid stations for Phase 8 and 9. As a result, the society will provide uninterrupted electricity, much to people’s relief besides plummeting line losses.

The project has been handed over to Descon Engineering which is specialized in constructing grids. A ceremony was held yesterday in DHA Lahore Phase 8 where this decision was announced. The ceremony kicked off with the recitation of the Holy Quran. It was followed by a welcome address by Chief Engineer, DHA.

One of the DHA officials stated that ex-air avenue and ex-park view are not included in the project. However, he was firm in stating that DHA Lahore is dedicated to provide electricity to the people residing in the society.

Statement by DHA Lahore Administrator

The administrator of DHA Lahore, Brig (R) Zafar Yaseen Babar also graced the ceremony with his presence. While speaking to the audience, he stated:

“Housing authority had expanded from 34,000 kanals to 300,000 kanals. Subsequently, it increased the demand for continuous and uninterruptible power supply”

He further added:

“DHA has proposed 21 grid stations, including a 220KV station. Seven grid stations were already in the approval phase, six were under construction and 2 grid stations were already energized”

Talking about the construction of grid stations, Zafar Yaseen said:

“We are going to start construction of two [more grid stations], 132KV each in Commercial-Broadway Phase VIII and DHA Town Phase IX, with the approval of the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) and the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO)”

Estimated cost of the project

The estimated costs of Phase 8 and 9 grid stations are Rs330 million and Rs348 million respectively. Moreover, both these grid stations will be functional next year, by March 2018.
