Google, the unrivaled lord of the online world, released its Play Store exactly five years ago, on March 6th, 2012. Today, at the age of five years, Play Store is available in 190 countries and has crossed one billion active users mark.
Google Play store has a total catalog of 40 million songs, 5 million books and over 2.6 million apps. To celebrate, Google revealed the five most popular games, apps, songs, albums, movies and books in the US since Google Play launched.
The most installed apps are dominated by seemingly invincible social networks, and while trending music looks like a compilation of the biggest hits from the last half-decade.
Considering that Google has successfully transitioned from a noun to a verb in the lexicon of a regular web surfer, it goes without saying that the web giant has evolved into the database of international content. It is important to note that, most of the top downloaded apps, music, albums, and movies are all latest releases. This is a stunning testament to the popularity of the content, & Android and Play Store growth in recent years.
