First Ever Tier III Data Center to be Established in University of Lahore

For the first time ever in Pakistan, a certified tier III data center will be established in University of Lahore (UOL). By achieving this objective, UOL will become the first educational institute in Pakistan to accomplish this rare feat.

Project Significance

This is the first ever tier III data center which is being established in a Pakistani educational institute. It will provide various independent paths in IT sector with 99.982% availability of IT services.

This new tier III data center will be hosting the SAP Student Life Cycle and Campus Management Facilities. Furthermore, it will also serve Virtual Desktop Infrastructure for 11 diverse Faculties and 32 departments, Private Cloud for UOL’s over 30,000 students, in more than 190 full-time degree programs and 4,000 faculty members.

Chairman of University of Lahore, Mr. Awais Raoof briefed the members about the necessity of Universities in Pakistan. He highlighted the need of exposing trending technology to the students. He said that the graduating students should practically witness the technology rather than just learning the theory. Moreover, he also said that the universities should change their way of delivering education and services to their students.

Mr. M.A. Raoof (Patron UOL), Mr. Awais Raoof (Chairman BOG UOL) attended the opening ceremony at Lahore. Other members included Mr. Javed Wadud (Country Head, EPI Pakistan), Mr. Mahmood Jabbar (CEO TechAccess Pakistan), Mr. Munib Khawaja (Country Head, Schneider Pakistan), and Mr. Nawaid Shamim. In addition, some other respected officials from IT sector also attended the ceremony.

Schneider Electric is the technology partner whereas TechAccess Pakistan is an integrator of the project at the University of Lahore.  With the collaboration of the management of these institutes, the data center would be operational in five months period.
