As the news pours, the US Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) in United States of America, has declared IBA Karachi’s Womenx Program as the ‘Outstanding Specialty Entrepreneurship Program Award’ winner in 2017.
About IBA Karachi’s Womenx Program
A World Bank funded initiative; IBA Karachi’s Womenx Program is a program which is intended to back women business owners. As the name suggests i.e. Womenx Program – it is aimed to support them through different channels including business knowledge, mentorship opportunities and networking.

It is worth mentioning that USASBE is the world’s leading and biggest professional company which is committed to advancing entrepreneurship. Besides being the leading organization, it is aimed to support the network to advance knowledge and encourage business development through entrepreneurship knowledge and research.
USASBE initiated these awards in a bid to acknowledge the entrepreneurship educational brilliance at the programmatic level.
The criterion of handing over the ‘Outstanding Specialty Entrepreneurship Program Award’ to the winners is assessed after measuring the institution’s top-notch creative programs that they are offering. In addition, the organization also determines whether the institute is delivering quality education to budding and aspiring entrepreneurs in a particular niche or specialty. These awards take place on yearly basis. Furthermore, it is presented to a specific institute which offers creativity, quality, comprehensiveness, depth of support, sustainability and the impact.
Stand-out Performance From IBA Karachi
There were number of international institutes which were competing against each other in the competition. IBA Karachi was representing Pakistan and was in the finals against two other teams WIN Lab from Babson College and Meadows School of the Arts from Southern Methodist University.

Program Director AMAN Center for Entrepreneurial Development (AMAN-CED), Dr. Shahid Qureshi received the award on behalf of IBA. The awards ceremony took place on 21st January 2017 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
It is pertinent to mention that this is the first time in the history of USASEB, a university from anywhere outside USA has managed to win this award.
