Sarah Ahmed bringing accolades: Winning Hero Microsoft student partner award

Yet again Pakistani girls have proven their mettle and shown the world that their talent has no boundaries. Young Arfah Kareem was one genius and here we have another in the name of Sarah Ahmed. Don’t hold any grudges against me for creating this analogy but this is what is looks like; great talent, confidence, and above all their passion for technology is what brings them together in the limelight.

Sarah Ahmed, being a young Microsoft Student Partner studying in University of Engineering and Technology Lahore, has recently won an award called Microsoft Student Partner (MSP) Hero by Microsoft. It is considered to be one the prestigious awards given by this technology giant in their efforts to recognize shining stars in the field of IT. Only two people receive this award in the entire Middle East and African Region and Sarah is one of them.

Sarah’s achievements could not be left unnoticed by the organization as she was actively involved in Microsoft ‘sVirtual Academy certifications, technical trainings and for community building by assisting other community members on and off campus. In order to praise her efforts, she was given the honor of being invited at the Annual MEA MSP Summit in Egypt organized by Microsoft.

Another achievement in Sarah’s career is her inclusion in a Girls Who Code Video on Microsoft Channel 9 along with 12 other MSPs from the Middle East and African region. This drive was primarily a part of Microsoft’s women Empowerment program. This video highlighted the real stories of all these 12 girls by bringing out their mode of expression and their experience with coding, being a passion.

The entire concept of MSPs is to create an environment in which students act as technology leaders by establishing communities across their university campuses and share their passion for technology. Microsoft has selected MSPs from 100 countries globally whereas Pakistan has 190 MSPs which are playing their role across various universities in the country.

Not only they are given excellent platform by the company to enhance their talent and skill set but are also given immense recognition by Microsoft on purely merit basis. They are a bunch of highly qualified and technical people who provide training and support to their fellow MSPs.

This program provides leadership experience, gives an opportunity to build students’ network as they work along Microsoft professionals, and lastly they are the fortunate ones to have exclusive access to latest trainings and technology events.

Microsoft has been an active member in providing an enabling environment to Pakistani students, developers and many young entrepreneurs who have a desire for achievement in the field of IT. Besides MSP program, it has also launched other initiatives such as DreamSpark, BizSpark, and extensive technical trainings to professionals on a wide scale.
