A big question mark whether Careem has launched Rickshaw service in Karachi

Several reports floating on social media platforms that Careem has initiated Rickshaw service in Karachi. On the other hand, Careem declined to comment on the possible launch when Dawn tried to contact them and take their official word about the matter.

The rumors erupt when many Careem users discovered the option of Rickshaw on their devices in the app. Dawn also reported that they found out an option of Rickshaw ride among various other ride options available on the Careem app interface.

The ride-hailing service offers Wi-Fi cars, business and economy ride options to its customers. An extra option of Rickshaw can be seen in the aforementioned screenshot.

Development comes after Uber launched uberAUTO in Karachi

The speculations broke on the social media platforms soon after Careem’s rival Uber launched uberAUTO, Rickshaw service in Karachi.

When Dawn tried to confirm about the news to Careem, the officials at the company avoided to make any comment about the matter. On the other hand, Careem has not released any official statement either about the development.

Careem has a fleet of over 9,000 cars in Pakistan. They entered the market Pakistan last year when they launched its services in Karachi before establishing its footing in Lahore and Islamabad.

In addition, Careem also announced to expand its services in 5 more cities of Pakistan including Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Peshawar, Hyderabad and Multan.

As soon as both Careem and Uber began its operations in Pakistan, the ride-hailing services became favorable mode of transportation for thousands of Pakistanis, particularly women.
