Top 10 Facebook Pages in Pakistan

As of September 2013, there are over 10 million Facebook users in Pakistan. Facebook is an essential social media platform to be active on if you’re a business hoping to connect and interact with consumers. It allows brands to communicate directly with their customers, address concerns, and also engage potential customers. Here check out the list of top Facebook pages in Pakistan.

Using the website, SocialBakers, we came up with a list of top 10 Facebook pages in Pakistan. The ranking is based on local (i.e Pakistani) fans for each page. There are some obvious names on the list (Mobilink, Ufone) and some not so obvious ones (Threads and Motifs).

Top10

1. OLX Pakistan

# of (local) fans: 2,199,134

An online buying and selling platform, OLX has been actively increasing its following in the last few years. That their Facebook page is #1 is no surprise, as they actively engage with their fans by posting polls and quizzes.

2. Mobilink

# of (local) fans: 2,072,275

Mobilink is the largest cellular company in the country, so it’s no surprise that they are in the #2 position. They use their page to provide updates on new package deals, and post quizzes for their fans to win prizes.

2Mobilink

3. Ufone

# of (local) fans: 1,893,903

At the #3 slot, Ufone doesn’t engage with fans as actively, but they do post all new package deals and tariff changes on their Facebook page. If you’re a customer, this would be the place to get the latest information.

3Ufone

4. Nokia Pakistan

# of (local) fans: 1,873,462

The Nokia Pakistan Facebook page is a great resource for news about features, phone releases and even give-aways. If you’re a fan of Nokia phones, you should be getting updates from this Facebook page as they give away phones and accessories regularly.

4Nokia

The Nokia Pakistan page also has the most shared/liked Facebook post in Pakistan. With over 55,000 interactions in total (including 51,000 likes), this announcement about the new phone release is the most popular post of 2014.

5. Intel

# of (local) fans: 1,718,135

Intel’s Facebook page is focused more on attracting talent to the company than on attracting customers. It makes sense as Intel has a B2B role in Pakistan, which means they don’t advertise directly to consumers. If you’re interested in a job at Intel, or on updates regarding the company, this is a good Facebook page to like. However, this same fact makes it interesting at how high on the list Intel is (as compared to B2C companies like P&G or Unilever).

6. Samsung Pakistan

# of (local) fans: 1,337,124

With almost 1.5 millions Pakistani fans, you would imagine the Samsung Facebook page hosts regular give aways, but no. They recently had one, but for the most part they use the page to provide information on new products and releases.

7. Pizza Hut Pakistan

# of (local) fans: 1,323,690

It’s quite surprising that out of 10, there are only 2 food related brands in the top 10 Facebook pages in Pakistan. Even more surprising that Pizza Hut sits at #7 (the other one is a pizza place too!). No free food being given away on this page though, as they use it mostly to announce new deals. However, you can also use the page to locate Pizza Hut locations or look through the menu.

7PizzaHut

8. Pepsi Pakistan

# of (local) fans: 1,193,534

No surprise that Pepsi Pakistan’s Facebook page has over 1 million fans. Surprised, however, that it sits at #8. A large part of their page updates have to do with cricket, cricket stars and contests around cricket. It’s a surprise that there isn’t more about the product itself.

8Pepsi

9. Threads and Motifs

# of (local) fans: 1,136,144

The biggest surprise on the list was Threads and Motifs. Their Facebook page is update after update on their new designs, and you can look through the collection as well as upcoming events on the Facebook page. Regardless of how popular the clothing store might be, it’s amazing it has over 1 million fans, and just 60,000 less than the Pepsi page.

9Threads

10. 14th Street Pizza

# of (local) fans: 1,090,530

With over 1 million fans, and #10 on the list is 14th Street Pizza. The Facebook page is very well utilized by the delivery chain, as you can go through the menu, place orders, participate in contests – all in one place.

Are there any obvious pages you think should be in the top 10? Were you surprised by any in the list? I have to admit, Threads and Motifs blew me away by the number of fans they have. Of course, a lot depends on the company managing the Facebook page and how good they are with customer engagement. I was surprised that big brands like P&G, Unilever, Coca Cola, and even McDonalds didn’t make the top 10.
