In a recent announcement, the Cabinet Committee on Privatization (CCP) has given a go-ahead to privatize 70 different public sector enterprises.
Out of the 70 companies, 43 have been added in the ‘Early Implementation’ program. Apparently, the companies which have been included in this program will be privatized in the next couple of years.
27 companies are excluded from this list and they have already been privatized completely.
In addition to this, the Senate Standing Committee for Privatization and Census has informed that during the last three decades, a total of 172 institutions have been privatized. The government has received a sum of 64.8 billion rupees through the privatization of these entities. It has also been shared that for the privatization of PIA an amendment bill shall be presented in the parliament.
