not enough data volume. My usage averages 100 GB or used to be in wateen. Now that they are closing shop in nazimabad I have to look for a service that actually gives a stable 1 mbps speed with unlimited download (atleast a 200 GB volume) all for a price of about RS.1700

Well, there should be one more option “None of All”. All ISPs suck. Strange people are voting for PTCL. I have 2MB PTCL DSL connection. Never got 1MB speed.

I used PTCL dsl, charji, evo, Wateen, Wi-Tribe but found only two better option.
1 – PTCL Charji, it gives good speed but its not stable, they claim 36 mb but it hardly reach at 3 – 4 mb.
2 – Nayatel, they are responsive, stable network, up and down links has same speed, evening to morning 7mb bandwidth with unlimited downloads and they deliver what they claim, bit expensive at the time of installation.

This question doesnt do justice, while most of the users have rated the ISP based on download speed but there are other equally important factors to be considered like value for money, customer service and etc.

I’m using PTCL for about 6-7 months, having this 8Mbps package, I always get like 900-1024 Kbps download speed, and very less downtimes.

when u live all ur life in a hell hole of government controlled media u tend to suffer from stolkholm syndrome. can u define “very less down time”? wateen downtime occurred once every 6 to 12 months and they fixed it within 24 hours of complaint.

Wateen Telecom is the best ISP in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad but now a days due to updation speed is very slow and stuck any way i am saticfied this ISP.

wateen is closing shop as of june 2015 in most of karachi (assuming the “most of karachi” part)…sad part is their own sales department denies it. I am looking for a new service that is as good as wateen but not PTCL.

This is a very bad question which mislead many people and they invest in the wrong company on account of service tariffs and data limits is a separate story. I can say from experience in 2 cities in Pakistan one being lahore that there is no single best ISP. The infrastructure is very poorly developed for both wired and wireless what works great in one area does not work in the rest. For example I have used almost all of the evo devices from 3.1Mb to char ji and all have had different results in different areas still users argue about its workability but refuse to accept the difference of infrastructure. Same goes for their broadband I got about 400 to 450 kiloBytes per second on a 4 megabit package whereas in lawrence road the speed was very unstable along with the connection. SImilar situations are with other ISPs but since I have not properly tested each one I would not say with certainty but similar problems have been faced with wateen.

do they have 1000 gb cap on unlimited service? wateen did, no other isp offers real unlimited volume. By international definition unlimited download refers to 1000 GB capacity. pakistani isp try to skirt that definition by using their own interpretation FUP limits. small volumes are ok for people who don’t do much on the internet but what about those who need volume rather then speed? no isp in karachi (outside DHA where the real pakistani residents live) provides volume service…..thats the cheat they play on people! look up any ptcl service or any wireless isp and u will notice that everyone is willing to give u blazing speed with absurdly low data volume.
From my experience if I go all out downloading on a 1mbps connection for 30 days (assuming the isp does not drop my speed, wateen never did) I would use up nearly 170 GB max. can u imagine evo service claiming 9mbps but data cap of 20 gb?

I am using PTCL broadband more than 3 years. It was slow about 1 year ago, but now it’s amazing yaar. I have 1MB package and there is double speed I’ve receiving.

most good comments about PTCL are not even from area’s outside clifton or DHA. Meanwhile wateen just informed me that it is shutting down operations in the next 30 days and I should look elswhere for service….the only service left in my area is PTCL AND I LIVE IN FRIGGIN NAZIMABAD KARACHI…with wateen’s announcement nazimabad is officially a network dead-zone……I stuck with wateen because their customer care was excellent and when they said unlimited 1mbps they meant “unlimited 1mbps” but if they are gone there is no other service left worth joining, only trash like PTCL where u are given a once a month shake down by bribe addicted technicians and if u try to complain to customer service they give u a traditional rude sharp tongue argument. I am at a loss about what service I should join now….

Qubee serves really well at Nazimabad. Also Wateen customers are being handed over to Qubee.. So you might want to try them out first. Qubee upgraded their network to Wateens that is 10 Mhz

If only I knew about it a month ago. No calls or sms. I just happened to notice an email about some dubious offer from Qubee that was hardly worth my attention. They were going to give me their regular service with 50GB FUP and if I stuck with them for a year they would give me double the volume for loyalty. I ignored it because I know my average volume on Wateen is 160 – 200 GB. I would never feel happy about being limited to 100 gb. It was later after I weighed the amount of stress PTCL was giving me to any other service that I contacted qubee and they told me I would get the same package and FUP that I was getting on Wateen and not some loyalty handout package. That is when I switched. and so far I am not complaining….other then qubee not having 300 GB FUP on their own packages since I wanted to upgrade speed but keep my truly unlimited FUP.

i dont know ?? why people hate ptcl, i have only 1mb connection with downstream data rate of almost 130 kilo bits per second. and i am always happy with it :), in my home i have an pc for file sharing with capacity of 3TB hardisk space which share files acroos 6 multiple devices connected with WIFI and i have one wok station and one torrent server also which is running 24/7 i dont have any problem its almost complet my LAN with 9 devices connected with 1mb ptcl connection and i am enjoying it very well, so why all of you people dont even happy with 4mb :D

ok anyone who says PTCL is good is clearly either living in DHA or does not know how DSL works. For future reference: DSL is the poor man’s internet service no matter where u live in the world. it is entirely dependent on the physical phoneline wire from the local telephone exchange to ur home. It is extremely prone to signal degradation and keeping that in mind ISP’s make clients sign an agreement that says signal degradation may occur and the client accepts this fact, this clause is specifically in place because what ever package DSL providers promise u they will always give u 0.5 Mbps less then promised and u can’t whine about it. It also requires an extremely active and competent maintenance team making certain no break downs are occurring anywhere between the end user and the exchange. does that even remotely sound like PTCL?
I live in North Karachi and had been on wateen 1 Mbps unlimited service for 7 years and in 7 years wateen’s exceptional customer care and uninterrupted connection never gave me a reason to complain. unfortunately in june 2015 wateen closed shop in North Karachi. Uncertain of any other connection in my area I decided to try PTCL 4Mbps unlimited. I inquired several times with customer care how they were going to set up my connection. They told me the device will be delivered to my home along with a technician who will set it up (apparently no one told the technician about this policy). They also said My telephone line will also be inspected for transmission quality. I finally bought the connection and the series of PTCL customer miscare hit me one after the other.
1) The technician who delivered the modem and who btw came empty handed (no tools, no wires nothing) said his department does not handle installing the device and I should hire an electrician to do the installation (I had the misfortune of dealing with the guy several times in a span of one month his name is Basit something). That very statement was perplexing to me as wateen technicians tend to come fully equipped and install the whole home network in one day plus PTCL had charged me 1500 as “installation fee”.
2) After an electrician told me electricians don’t handle telephones, I decided to install the wires myself. I may not be an expert but I know how to install internet networks in my house. After I setup the whole modem (no thanks to PTCL) I realized the modem was disconnecting consistently every 15 minutes and when it did connect it was giving me no more then 1.5 Mbps. I filed a complaint with the PTCL telephone service who told me they will handle it in 24 hours. I felt relieved thinking maybe the customer service isn’t all that bad….man I was wrong! 24 hours later instead of a fix I started getting automated calls stating my problem had been resolved and I should confirm that I want to close my complaint. I kept receiving this harrassing call (218) every hour or so even though I was still getting disconnections. I called them again and this time the rep was confused about what I was talking about when I become agitated he checked and told me my complaint had been closed by someone in the back. I was friggin pissed. After a little angry condemnation of what they had tried to pull the rep renewed my complaint and said 24 hours. guess what? 24 hours later more harrassing calls and not fix.
3) After 30 days of constant disconnection between the few 20 minutes of working internet, a barrage of harrassing automated calls and screaming my head off everyday at the customer care rep. I finally went to the exchange and complained. The complaint officer called that very same person to go to my home. He gave me a time and when I reached my home at that time, he was nowhere to be found. Next day I went to the exchange and asked what the hell happened yesterday, turns out he came half an hour early and left a momento on my wall to show he was there. I was furious beyond reason and started screaming at the self indulgent technician so loud everyone around me was startled. The complaint officer tried to start a screaming competition with me arguing that the tech is not my personal employee and I have no right to scream at him. I countered with the fact that I pay 2000 for his worthless service that has not been fixed in a month since I bought it so I do own his sorry ass. If no one pays PTCL would those ingrates who are so quick to insult customers even have a job? That very same day the tech came to my house out of pure indignation of how I disrespected him and actually installed, tested and inspected my physical network (with the help of a line man). After he realized my phone was still sounding like a scratched record. He stepped out and said my phone line from my house to the PTCL junction box needed to be replaced. The line man got to work on it and that day my internet finally started working…..mostly uninterrupted. I took a sigh of relief and the next 4 days I had no complaints. then saturday came and the internet went down again and did not get restored despite of two separate complaints until I finally disconnected it on the following tuesday.
4) Here is a fun fact for PTCL DSL broadband users. One of the customer reps in a moment of weakness admitted to me that PTCL exchange close on a saturday evening and do not open till Monday. If their internet connection goes offline on a Saturday you are not likely to have internet connection till monday…if they feel like fixing it on a monday. But u will have plenty of correspondence with PTCL automated complaint closer.
Here is a summary of what I learned about PTCL in the month from hell I was with them:
a) Their phone service has no communication with any of the other department of PTCL…apparently they feed all customer complaints to a goat tied next to their office.
b) PTCL is setting a record in bureaucratic inefficiency. If ur internet is not working they will make u write complaint applications and make u run between the internet department, the phone department, the complaint office and who ever else needs a friggin free peon.
c)Every horror story about PTCL on the internet is real. None of them are exaggerated. PTCL is the worst ISP in the history of ISP’s
When I pay an ISP for service I expect to never have to stress about disconnections or not having enough download volume ever! If an ISP does not give u these two basic amenities, you should never join them even if they are cheap. If u are hiring them then u are saying it is ok for ISP to treat their customers like dog shit.
Fortunately, for me Wateen before parting ways had a special agreement with Qubee for all the customers they abandoned. So now I am on Qubee paying a little extra for my service (compared to qubee’s own customers) and so far I feel the service is very good…..as good as wateen. I have no disconnections, The internet response time is super low so download time outs are rare and that is worth the extra money. I would however hope that qubee would increase their FUP because I am certain even their customers are starved for a package that give truly unlimited volume (300 GB would be enough). I would recommend Qubee to anyone who has to choose between PTCL or EVO or any other company as atm they are the only ones in the (not for DHA they have better ISP’s) rest of Karachi who have the highest volume with exceptional internet connection and customer service.

I live in Lahore DHA AREA.
So here it is I have used 2 internet services in the past 10 years. PTCL and WorldCall. I first had Worldcall Telecom installed and it was a 128KB Package back in 2005 which was really amazing at the time. Back then a 128KB seemed real fast. I used it for a year with very good service and no complaints at all and then I had to move as I was on Rent. I moved nearby and got PTCL instead of Worldcall beacuse of their Student Package which was really cheap at the time. I got the 1MB Package which I used for 1 year and then upgraded to 2MB package which I used for another 1 year. It was stable for a PTCL connection and I had very few problems. I had like one problem very 3-4 months which was acceptable in my 2 years of PTCL usage.
I had to move again and then I got a Worldcall connection again because they had dropped their rates. I used worldcall this time for 6 years. I initially got the 2 MB worlcall connection which worldcall later upgraded after 3 years to 4 MB at no extra charge. During my 6 years of use of worldcall this time and 1 year before that is a total of 7YEARS worlcall usage. I had only had internet troubles a handful of times. You can say that during the 7 years I launched a complaint like 8-10 times. Worldcall customer service is Very GOOD. They fix your internet within the time frame and then give you a call personally to ask whether the internet is working or not. No automated calls. A worldcall rep call you. They also send a team to your house no matter what the complaint to check your installation for issues and always change the splitters and stuff just to make sure.
….
Well after the 6 years of worldcall this time I moved again outside DHA LAHORE where there was no Worldcall service and got a PTCL because my previous experience with PTCL wasn’t bad.i got the 4MB unlimited connetion This time the lineman came to install the phoneline and threw the wire over the gate and told me take it it and install it myself that it was not this JOB. I did that and then it took 15 days for the broadband person to come. He installed the internet and it was working fine for the first couple of days then my speed dropped. I called 1218 helpline and was told that my parameters were set to that of a 1 MB connection instead of my 4MB package and that it will be resolved in 24 hours with they did and sent me an automated call. I was impressed ones again that they kept their word but it went downhill from there. The next day I got the same problem I called 1218 and launched complaint and it was resolved but this time only after a few hours the same issue started and I launched complaint again and 12 hours later I started getting calls from 1218 that complaint had been resolved. I got a call every hour and I selected no because my complaint wasnt resolved. I even got calls at 12AM during the night like somebody works their at the time.
its been a month now with daily calls to PTCL but no luck.
I should mention that I paid 5250 for installation alone. 2500 for demand note and 2000 for wire and 750 for modem.
At the end I would like to say that WORLDCALL is by far the best service out there. NO troubles and reliable connection

Till now 2015 zong and Qubee is the best one but it’s depend on the areas but in my opinion Qubee have the best customer services in Pakistan and Ptcl is worst God Bless on Ptcl. Zong have the fastest speed Moblink have the strong frequency
