Digital Winners Asia, a local startup event is about to get underway. It will be hosting startup teams from across Asia selected through Telenor’s accelerator programs. Three startups from Pakistan have also been shortlisted and will be flying to Myanmar in November to participate in the event.
The two-day event will start on 1st November in Yangon, Myanmar. The local event will commence with case preparation sessions to prepare startup teams to compete for 100,000 Norwegian Kroner in early expansion funds.
The shortlisted Pakistani startups would be featuring the event on the vital areas the country struggles for, energy, education and employment. EcoEnergy, a startup that will solve energy crisis in Pakistan, will provide viable electricity, especially to the rural areas. Edjunction, a social network that will help connect parents, teachers, students and the school on one platform through mobile. Fori Mazdoori, a startup that aims to organize and enable manual laborers and workers to register themselves on an employment database. This will help the employer to easily search for the required type of labor.

Other participants
Nine teams participating in Digital Winners Asia include the present and previous participants of Telenor’s five startup acceleration program from Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand and Malaysia. Each company has been selected on the basis of their life-cycle and their talent to grab opportunities of the new market and strive alongside Telenor. Each company is allowed to present two representatives to participate in the event. This first year’s members will be presenting on different quality businesses: promoting administrations, vitality, artificial intelligence, tourism, and education.
The aim of the event is to promote and share various skills, knowledge and tackles across various markets. The official theme of the event is to challenge digital business opportunities across various markets. In order to hunt entrepreneurship across the world, Telenor has been promoting several startups. Telenor’s go-to-market sponsor for Pakistan, Velocity, recently introduced its first ever unit.
