A Pakistani student, Ikra Saleem made Pakistan proud after she obtained first position at the University of London LLB examinations. She secured the highest aggregate marks this year.
The University of London offers distance learning opportunity to students from many countries across the world. According to the website of the university:
“We have 9 first class awards this year. In terms of countries, Malaysia and Pakistan are joint equal; each have three firsts. In terms of individual students, Pakistan comes top. Ikra Saleem Khan has the highest aggregate marks this year”
Ikra Saleem Khan studied at University College Lahore. She credited her teachers lavishly by stating ‘their tireless efforts helped me on my journey’ for her success. She also ascribed her success to ‘persistence, hard work and dedication.’
Besides studying day in and day out, Ikra was also an active participant in the dramatics and music society at University College Lahore. She maintained remarkable balance between her studies and extracurricular activities.
2 other Pakistani students also shone at LLB exams
Rubab Tariq Khan and Muhammed Kazim were the two other Pakistani students who brought laurels for the country. Both of them managed to earn first class degree and became 2 of the 9 students from around the world to earn a first this year.
Rubab is expected to share her knowledge very soon with others since she is already working with a law firm. Studied at Pakistan College of Law, Rubab described studying the LLB degree as ‘a roller coaster ride.’ Furthermore, she defined herself as ‘a product of the hard work of all my well-wishers’ including the prayers of her parents.
She’s been offered a teaching position with Pakistan College of Law for the module of International Protection of Human Rights.
Muhammed Kazim studied law at The Institute of Legal Studies (TILS). To everyone surprise, he was the only male to achieve a first this year.
He credits his success to hard work and offers the following advice:
“There are 2 types of people: intelligent and hardworking. But in my experience, hard work can triumph over intelligence any day”
Malaysia and Pakistan are joint equal as each have three firsts. Students from Jamaica and Sri Lanka are also among those 9 high achievers.
