Looking for job inspiration? Wanna build up your skills to make some good money, but confused which skill to follow? If so, inspiration’s all around you! From Siri on your iPhone to the people who offer you customer support online, freelancers have finally started making the big bucks.
Upwork, the freelancing website that connects clients with top freelance professionals, recently released a list of the latest top-20 in demand jobs on the online market. Topping the list right now are freelance programmers who can help write code that understands human speech. There are other spots on the list that have been filled up with programmers and techies as well.
However, that isn’t to say that some skills in the tech world don’t go obsolete with time. Twitter data analysts have been all the rage just a few years ago but according to Upwork’s data, demand for this skill has decreased rapidly- up to 51% in fact!
Programmers who knew natural language processing earned the highest.
According to Upwork, the skills are ranked as below:
- Natural Language Processing
- Swift
- Tableau
- Amazon Marketplace Web Services (MWS)
- Stripe
- Instagram Marketing
- MySQL Programming
- Unbounce
- Social Media Management
- AngularJS
- Business Consulting
- Machine Learning
- Brand Strategy
- 3D Rendering
- Information Security
- R development
- Node.js development
- User Experience design
- Bluetooth
- Zendesk customer support
When viewing the list, one should keep in mind that the data generated by Upwork on this list has been strictly based on US freelancer billings. The list has been developed in comparison to the list generated in the earlier quarter of 2016. To make sure that the sample size remains reliable, skills that had not been associated with at least $1,000 in billings, have not been included in the list.
