China awards scholarships to 131 Pakistani students

Chinese government has awarded scholarships to 131 Pakistani students. The move will help the students to pursue their education at the leading educational institutions in China.

Chinese ambassador Sun Weidong announced the scholarships in a recent ceremony which was held at the Chinese embassy. Plenty of high dignitaries graced the occasion with their presence including Chinese ambassador’s wife Bao Jiqing and Ministry of Interprovincial Coordination’s Federal Secretary Raja Muhammad Nadir Ali. The families of the selected students were also present in the ceremony.

While speaking to the audience at the event, Sun Weidong said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will play a vital role in developing strong relations between two countries. He further stated that CPEC will bring a lot of job opportunities for the youth of Pakistan. Additionally, he added:

“With the implementation of projects under CPEC, more job opportunities are being created, not just laborers, but for talented professionals”

While addressing the selected students, he asserted:

“Having been educated in China, and familiar with Chinese technologies and standards, you would have a great competitive edge when facing this kind of opportunity in the coming days. I believe all of you will have a bright future in this regard”

220 Pakistani students are selected every year

The scholarship council of China provides 220 Chinese government scholarships to Pakistani students every year. 131 students are selected this year while on the other hand; some are already pursuing education in China. Ministry of Interprovincial Coordination of Pakistan recommended 107 students out of 131 selected students.

Students selected for the scholarships are from a diverse group. Some of these students belong from developed cities like Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. While a big chunk of students were selected from Gwadar, Gujranwala, Kamalia, Multan, Swat, Mingora, Sargodha, and Dera Ismail Khan.

Students will have diverse range of subjects like computer science, technology, usiness administration, architecture, civil engineering, international law and journalism. These Pakistani students will pursue Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD and advance training programs at some of top universities in China.
