CNG Stations Across Punjab To Remain Closed Until 8th April

It would have made sense if CNG stations across Punjab, including Lahore and Islamabad, remain closed for four days during the peak winter season. However, this is not the case anymore as winter has gone and summer has arrived in Pakistan; yet the supply of gas to the CNG stations across Punjab will remain suspended for four days until 8th April 2017.

On Tuesday (early morning), CNG stations across the province including Islamabad, shut down. The reason which Sui Northern Gas Company (SNGC) explained to the CNG Association was that the gas supply will remain deferred because of the ongoing maintenance of LNG terminal.

Is maintenance of LNG terminal the reason of CNG stations closure?

While speaking to Geo News, well-informed sources said that this is government strategy to preserve gas. By doing so, they will supply the gas to the power stations who will later generate electricity.

The source further stated that since it is not raining in Pakistan frequently, the level of water in the dams has gone down. As a result, the generation of hydel power has condensed greatly in the country.
