Google is planning to launch a new smartphone on 4th October

Google is again in the news for all the good reasons as the internet giant has hinted to launch a new smartphone. It sent out invitations for its October 4 event late Monday indicating to show off its new smartphone powered by its Android software.

Limited information has been released so far in the emailed invitations stating only the venue and the date of the event. The event will be held in San Francisco.

Google spilled off a Twitter message by using the hashtag #madebygoogle along with a short video which triggered a lot of curiosity. The video starts with the google search engine bar which gradually takes the shape of the long rectangular box i.e. exactly the type and size of a smartphone.

‘Pixel’ instead of ‘Nexus’

It is a high possibility that Google may term its new smartphone as ‘Pixel’ instead of ‘Nexus’, the name which was previously used for its phone earlier. Google has been attached to the Nexus brand for a long time but their affiliation with multiple partners has shaken the brand strength.

Experts have been predicting that the October event will be the launch pad for Google’s new smartphone. They will also flaunt the new and superior Nougat version of Android software. It is also expected that this smartphone would set the bar very high for other manufacturers making Android devices.

Strong contender for Apple’s iPhone7

Google smartphone would hit the market soon after Apple would sell its iPhone7 Models. Therefore, we might see a strong rivalry between the two brands as buyers might be attracted to grab the internet giant’s new product. With year-end holiday season round the corner, this seems like an ideal time for the launch.

So far, the grass is green for Apple as its stores were flooded with customers last week trying to grab an iPhone7 and iPhone7 plus. However, people were taken aback with the shortage of large screen iPhone7 Plus and the black iPhone7. But many are skeptical whether the shortages are due to massive demand or limited supply.

A new move of eliminating the headphone jack is also hinting on Apple’s new strategy of wireless products. Additionally, it also has Apple’s freshly released iOS 10 mobile operating system.

Although Apple has managed to generate one billion from iPhone sales during the quarter ending June, but on a yearly basis sales have dropped by 15%. Subsequently, it raised concerns for the manufacturer with iPhone being its flagship product.

The overall mobile phone industry is becoming difficult to operate as competition is getting fierce. Apple’s rivals offering a wide range of products along with tough competition from South Korean Giant Samsung. To add to this whammy, Google smartphone is also eyeing to attract a large customer base.
