In a latest development, the Government of Sindh has slapped a ban on all the internet cafes in the province without any proper video surveillance and recording system. The ban implies on all the internet cafes which will be operating anywhere in the province.
Under the Section 144 (6) of the Criminal Procedure Code, Sindh Government has levied this sanction across the province.
It is relevant to state that the SHO of the concerned police station will issue a formal notice of 15 days to all the owners of the internet cafes. As a result, the owners will have a time period of 15 days to install the required video surveillance and recording system in their cafes. However, if an owner fails to install such a system, action would be taken against him.

Internet Cafe Owners To Keep Customers’ CNIC Copies
According to the official government statement issued, an internet café is supposed to keep the recording for one year. Furthermore, it is compulsory for all the owners to keep the CNIC copies of all the persons along with their cabin numbers and usage time while they used the internet café services.
The SHO of the respective region is entitled to register complaints in black and white under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code for the violation of the previously mentioned Section 144 (6) of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

The upsurge in the technology has opened plenty of avenues for potential criminals to make unfair use of it.
