The Government of Pakistan has chosen and unveiled an Independence Day logo for which 400 entries were received. Astonishingly, people are stunned and are not quite happy at the selection of the logo.
One can say that the celebrations for the 70th Independence Day of Pakistan has begun especially with the launch of the logo as well as the ongoing campaign of #PakistanZindabad on Twitter as initiated by star all-rounder of Pakistan, Shoaib Malik.
What does the logo reveal?
The selected logo contains plenty of vibrant colors in and around the crescent and star. According to the information minister, Mariyum Aurangzeb, the colorful logo represents the diversification in the country. She further added:
“Colorful crescent and star on the number 70 depicts the theme of celebrations and promotion of the cultural diversity of the country”
The logo was designed by Saba Zaman and she was awarded Rs500,000 for her artwork. However, she has gathered tremendous amount of criticism for her design especially on the social media.
Reaction of the public
Following was the response from the general public when the logo was officially shared on social media platforms. Only a handful of comments were in support of Saba.

I've seen better work by people who are not even professional graphic designers. This is Trash. https://t.co/MyLb2SlR9B

It's not just the bad design, the thing that really grates me is that the crescent and star aren't even in proper proportion. https://t.co/qxSzpjJ4wW

A 4th Grader would do a better job. This shows the caliber of the judges who choose this one. #PakistanZindabad #Happy70thPakistan

Thoughts of Saba Zaman
According to Saba, the criticism has made her strong. However, she is deeply hurt because of the negativity surrounding around her work.
In a Facebook post, she stated:
“Those who said they could have done better job so let me tell you it was an open competition you could have applied and might have done much better than me for sure. Thanks for your criticism because it made me even stronger”.
What do you make of the Independence Day logo?
