During This Year, Investment In Electronic Media Industry To Exceed $5 Billion

The snowballing investment of a massive $4 billion is the cumulative amount dedicated to the electronic media industry in Pakistan. As a result, this very sector has generated over 250,000 employment opportunities for the people of Pakistan. Individuals from varied skills and educations are working in the electronic media industry.

In a recent development, it has been studied that the current investment in the electronic media industry will surpass the mammoth barrier of $5 billion by the end of current financial year. It is pertinent to mention that the growth rate at present of electronic media industry is 7% per annum.

Formed in March 2002 through an ordinance, the regulatory body Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) facilitates, simplifies and controls the expansion of electronic media in the private sector. Consequently, the law permitting the authority’s sphere was overhauled as PEMRA Amendment Act – 2007.

The enterprises of the authority have backed and contributed towards the progress of electronic media. Moreover, it also creates employment opportunities in Pakistan.

If the amount exceeds the $5 billion mark by the end of current financial year, it would have tremendous effect on employment opportunities for skilled media personnel and journalists, escalating work of media production houses, advertising agencies and the spreading of the performing arts.

Significant progress in last 4 years

The investment policies of the current government are quite amiable. This is exactly the reason why Pakistan’s electronic media industry has progressed over the last few years. Moreover, it has also made a significant impact and progress in all these years. As a result, the combined national expansion has contributed massively in the overall development of electronic media industry in the private sector.
