WomenX joins hands with Kaymu.Pk to enable its female entrepreneurs to set up online stores. Kaymu recently invited around 30 women from WomenX who are enrolled in the 4th batch at IBA Center for Entrepreneurship Development (IBA-CED) for a Plug-&-Play session at Kaymu’s office. WomenX is a global initiative by World Bank to promote the entrepreneurial spirit of Pakistani women.
The agenda of the session was to explain online selling, make them Kaymu sellers immediately and take their business online in only a few clicks. Kaymu’s team introduced these entrepreneurs to Kaymu, demonstrated how to sign up as a seller, how to describe products using appropriate content terminology, and price them taking into account cost and profit margin. The women were given free laptops and product photography so that they can become sellers on Kaymu immediately.
Online marketplaces and shopping communities like Kaymu facilitate the ever-growing pool of home-based businesses that are brewing up in Pakistan in the last few years, due to increase in Internet penetration. These home-based entrepreneurs mainly include women who sell their creations via the Internet.
Kaymu has an existing seller base of 15,000+ sellers which include some incredibly successful female sellers. Sumaira Asif was one seller who started her Kaymu shop from home and within two years, acquired office space, setup a factory line, and is about to launch her shop in a mall in Karachi.
This session was held as a follow-up to a previous session entitled “Online Marketing Mix & Mingle” where industry experts like Maliha Rao of Fashion Pakistan Council, Imtiaz Noor of Kaymu and Nazish Chagla of N’eco’s shared their insights regarding brand positioning, product photography, pricing and promotion for online businesses. Kaymu Pakistan aims to conduct more of these sessions in the city and plans to roll out these programs to other cities as well.
