LUMS and Harvard Business Publishing inks a partnership agreement

The partnership between Harvard Business Publishing (HBP) and Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) will entail publishing of LUMS’ Business School’s cases on the website of HBP. The cases will now be available alongside Harvard cases from Fall 2017. The agreement between the two institutions will allow LUMS to join foundations like Stanford, Babson, Wharton, IMD and Princeton who have such arrangements with HBP.

The faculty of LUMS and SDSB has achieved a major milestone by partnering with Harvard. There are no second thoughts that HBP is a prominent organization. It will put SDSB cases on the map of international cases along with its faculty. As a result, most of the cases would be taught across the globe.

Statement of Dean at SDSB

While expressing his delight at the partnership, Jawad Syed, PhD, Academic FCIPD, Dean & Professor of Organisational Behaviour at SDSB stated:

“I take this opportunity to thank SDSB faculty, Dr. Junaid Ashraf, Dr. Ehsan ul Haque, Dr. Arif Nazir Butt, Dr. Kamran Chatha, Dr. Saad Azmat and other colleagues who supported this initiative. Most importantly, thanks are due to all those faculty members who wrote these high quality cases”

In addition, Jawad Syed further said:

“The next step is to continue to produce high quality cases of local relevance and international significance on a regular basis, incorporate and use them in our academic and executive programmes, and reduce our reliance on foreign subscriptions”

Dr. Syed, while airing his thoughts, was also of the view that the agreement between 2 institutions showcases the significance LUMS gives to the quality of teaching, applied scholarship and international partnership.

Furthermore, the partnership took place after a thorough negotiation and wide-spread review process by the editorial team at Harvard. The team evaluated SDSB cases for the content, format and language.

Do you think other institutions of the country should take a leaf out of it and create alliances with international institutes?
