National Hospital in Lahore has launched a lavish floor with incredible facilities for its elite class patients.
Chief Executive at National Hospital, Dr Shahida Khawaja stated:
“Many countries like India, Singapore and Dubai promote and offer extensive health/medical facilities where global standard medical treatment facilities are combined with a comfortable and relaxing environment”
Hospital or Five Star Hotel?
Most of the patients in Pakistan fail to get even basic level of medical treatment. However, hospital authorities and Shahida Khawaja think otherwise.
The new leap in the hospital luxury is constructed as a move towards attracting medial tourism in the country. The floor for the elite class will be able to provide world-class treatment to the patients. Hospital authorities believe that patients in Pakistan would now travel less to foreign countries for expensive medical treatment. Chief executive stated:
“As we globalize ourselves and set our targets to achieve high standards, it’s important to have such a facility in your own country. We believe there will be less inclination to go abroad to get extremely expensive treatment with this initiative”
As far as facilities are concerned, National Hospital will provide one window facility on the executive floor. It means that patients would not be required to stand in the queue to fill the admission form. Instead, they will be moved to the executive rooms and all the paperwork will take place in the room directly. Moreover, patients won’t be required to move to any other room as all their relevant tests will be conducted in the lavish room.
The hospital doesn’t charge exaggeratedly for its services. While talking about the financial aspect, Dr Shahida commented:
“As far as hospital paramedics, nursing, doctors, and diagnostic investigations are concerned, there will be no additional charges for patients admitted on the executive floor. There will be a nominal increase (10%) for which they have to pay for enhanced facility”
Interior designing
Interior designer, Naila Ishtaque was hired to stage-manage 10 regular executive rooms with two suites. She worked in tandem with the directors of the hospital to give a feel-like-home touch. In addition, she engineered the floor in such a manner that it matches the extravagance of hospitals abroad.
Moving forward
This initiative is primarily for elite class. However, plenty of work needs to be done to cater the medical treatment of lower class. Even upper middle class at times fail to avail expensive medical treatment in the country.
Do you think it’s a significant step from National Hospital Lahore?
