Muhammad Nasir, a man from Battagram has reportedly lost Rs 24 million in an online jobs fraud. There are countless internet sites today that promise jobs producing great returns provided you pay and register in them. While there are many people out there who have lost a few thousands in their aspirations for some easy money, Muhammad Nasir here outdid them all, managing to lose a whopping Rs 24 million in his quest for the elusive high paying internet job.

Despite repeated warnings there are a lot of naïve people out there who believe in swindlers who make money by selling IDs to them in return for money. These IDs are supposed to open doors to lucrative jobs on the internet. The cost of the ID varies depending on the returns promised. For example, an ID that assures you a monthly income of Rs 5000 a month would cost somewhere around Rs 10000. While this is a rather conservative scenario, there are some IDs that can cost as much as half a million, the cost increases proportionally with the returns promised.

The man in discussion here, Muhammad Nasir went ahead and bought himself numerous IDs for thousands of rupees. He ended up investing as much as Rs 4.3 million into these and then started roping in his family and friends also into this sham of a system. The guy did a great job of convincing his family and friends, so much so, that they ended up investing another Rs 19.5 millions into buying IDs. These people expected to get back their initial investment in as little as 2 months.

Nasir had not really involved his family and friends into this online jobs business due to the goodness of his heart, this greedy guy had a cut in the investments made by the others. Now that the people selling IDs have disappeared, Nasir and his partners in the scheme are left without a means of getting back their money. Despite repeated attempts at tracking those ID sellers they have not met with any success.

The guy who has taken the biggest fall here is Muhammad Nasir. Not only has he lost his own investment of Rs 4.3 million but now the others are expecting him to repay whatever they have lost which he has no means of returning.

This is a classic example of what greed can do to you. While tragic, there are quite a few takeaways from this incident of online fraud. The most important one being that easy money is a fantasy, nothing more. The reason online swindlers are successful in their misdeeds is because of such greedy people who would do anything to take a short cut to riches. While there are several lucrative online jobs, there is none that can promise you thousands right at the onset without working hard for it. There are definitely no jobs out there that you can get into merely by paying money.

We would all benefit from remembering these lessons and steering clear from any dreams of easy money coming our way.  As a wise man once said, “ If something seems too good to be true, it probably is”.
