PITB declares to conduct IT survey across Pakistan

By acting as a capital body and oversight, Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has decided to conduct an IT survey across Pakistan. The decision was taken at the PITB round table conference which was recently organized where a new IT policy was put forward for ideas, suggestions and proposals for the province of Punjab.

While chairing the round table conference, Chairman of PITB Dr. Umar Saif emphasized on the dire need of calculating and consolidating data specifically related to the industry of technology. In addition, he further stated while speaking to more than 120 technology experts from Punjab and Pakistan:

“The IT industry needs to organize itself like other industries. As a result, it will hold key for systematic disbursement of incentives to any industry. Furthermore, it will also demonstrate that these incentives have been well-deserved”

IT survey – progressive step indeed

This step from PITB will prove to be extremely progressive and pivotal especially for familiarizing reforms in the business, entrepreneurship, startup and technology industry. Moreover, the digital and tech advocates after congregating insights will also provide a resilient reason to demand incentives and reforms.

Besides identifying the number and types of IT firms in Pakistan, the survey will also classify workforce employed, revenue generated and various other vital factors related to technology.

The participants, who were present at the round table conference, appreciated PITB’s initiative of IT survey across Pakistan. While commenting on the announcement, they believed that it will prove to a stepping stone in achieving future goals. Additionally, they were of the view that it is a significant and crucial initiative. The participants also felt that there would be hardly any progress without and IT census.

PITB and Pakistan Software House Association (P@SHA) will collaborate together to conduct the IT census across Pakistan. However, a third party survey firm will make sure the execution goes as planned.

During the round table conference, an IT census committee was also announced. Their primary objective would be to act as the oversight body for the census.
