PTDC Preparing To Launch a Tourism Channel in Pakistan

The Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) has been working at introducing a tourism channel in Pakistan. The channel will essentially focus and cover content related to tourism only, as stated by the Managing Director of PTDC, Chaudhary Abdul Ghafoor Khan.

Abdul Ghafoor revealed the news about the tourism channel while talking to Ina Lepel, the German Ambassador to Pakistan. He termed the bilateral relations between the two countries as ‘ideal’. In addition, he said that collaboration in the field of tourism between Pakistan and Germany would greatly boost these ties.

PTDC’s Participation in Tourism Fair

It is noteworthy that Pakistan always takes part in the International Tourism Fair. The ITB Berlin is scheduled to take place next month.

While speaking on the scope of tourism in Pakistan, Abdul Ghafoor stated:

“PTDC has been participating in this fair for the last three decades. We have great potential of attracting tourists because of our heritage, mountains, valleys, deserts, rivers and beaches”

In addition, he further added:

“We have a vast variety of delicious cuisines. It can be introduced and promoted internationally in the near future”

Moreover, the managing director also expressed his appreciation of the German ambassador’s dedication to contribute in promoting tourism in Pakistan.

Mr. Abdul Ghafoor commented:

“In this regard, new destinations are being explored. Moreover, investors are being invited to invest in setting up pre-fabricated resorts and other facilities”

He also made public another initiative taken by the PTDC in which the diplomatic community based in Pakistan is being engaged to promote tourism in the country. Furthermore, he also requested the government of Germany to assess its travel advisory for German tourists who might be interested in visiting Pakistan. He suggested that such exchanges between the two countries should continue to take place regularly.

Statement By The German Ambassador

Speaking on behalf of the government of Germany, Ina Lepel stated that German tourists have a fascination with the opportunities Pakistani landscape offers for hiking and mountaineering. She also said that tourists of Germany adore nature and that they are very fond of different adventures.

German Ministry of Tourism and German Tourism Organization had already been offering reforms in technical and vocational education and training in Pakistan, shared the German ambassador.

She also suggested that Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation should look to promote local tourism in the present situations. Moreover, PTDC should also give some insights to domestic tourists that they must take care of the environment.

While concluding her speech, she praised the efforts of the Pakistan government for stimulating a vibrant culture of tourism in Pakistan.
