Quaid-e-Azam University Declared As Pakistan’s Top-Rated Institute

According to a Washington-based ranking guide i.e. US News and World Report, Pakistan’s Quaid-e-Azam University is rated as the country’s best institute. Located in the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad-based Quaid-e-Azam University achieved a global score of 53.7. However, in terms of global ranking, the institute is positioned at 461.

As many as 17 universities from Pakistan made the cut in the list of ‘Best Global Universities 2022’. Out of 17 institutions, 3 were not rated by the website as none of them managed to score any global score. Nonetheless, Aga Khan University in Karachi managed to score 53.2 global points closely followed by COMSATS University Islamabad which attainted 52.2 points.

Resultantly, the aforementioned universities are rated as 3 best in Pakistan. However, their global ranking are 461, 473 and 495 respectively.

It is worth mentioning that as many as 2,000 institutes from whopping 90 countries were ranked based of their global score. Subsequently, they were rated on the basis of indicators including books, conferences, publications, total citations, normalized citation impact, regional research reputation, global research reputation, number of publications that are among 10% most cited, percentage of total publications that are among 10% most cited, international collaboration, international collaboration – relative to the country, number of highly cited papers that are among the top 1% most cited in their respective field and percentage of total publications that are among the top 1% most highly cited papers.

Best institutes in the world

Among the best universities in the world, UK and the US dominate the list until at least 16th position. Harvard University is rated as the best university in the world. Moreover, it is the only college in the world with a global score of 100. No any institute has a global score of even 98. Second on the list of Massachusetts Institute of Technology with 97.5 points while Stanford University is named as the third best in the world.

UK’s University of Oxford is declared as UK’s best while it achieved a global ranking of No. 5. China’s Tsinghua University bestowed with the best Asian institute besides securing a world ranking of No. 26. India’s Tata Institute of Fundamental Research bagged a world ranking of 408 besides gaining country’s best institute.
