Samsung recalls Galaxy Note 7 devices globally after reports of exploding batteries

Samsung is the largest smartphone manufacturer which recently launched its best device, Galaxy Note 7. However, there are certain negative reports about the phone that have put the company in a bit of bother.

It has been reported that the Samsung is recalling millions of Galaxy Note 7 smartphones from all over the world. The core reason of this development is the increasing number of phones exploding whilst charging up. As a result, it has prompted the tech company to take a major step of recalling the phones.

This issue of recalling in the past few years for the tech industry is indeed the most eminent. Moreover, this shortcoming has put Samsung in a rather embarrassing situation. Pakistan is one of the important markets in the world for the tech giant. Reportedly, it has been affected too.

Statement of Samsung on Galaxy Note 7

Samsung has admitted the ambiguity of the battery by releasing a global statement. In addition, the global recall is also confirmed in the press conference. The statement on Galaxy Note 7 is as following:

“Samsung is committed to producing the highest quality products and we take every incident report from our valued customers very seriously. In response to recently reported cases of the new Galaxy Note 7, we conducted a thorough investigation and found a battery cell issue.

To date (as of September 1) there have been 35 cases that have been reported globally and we are currently conducting a thorough inspection with our suppliers to identify possible affected batteries in the market. However, because our customers’ safety is an absolute priority at Samsung, we have stopped sales of the Galaxy Note 7.

For customers who already have Galaxy Note 7 devices, we will voluntarily replace their current device with a new one over the coming weeks.

We acknowledge the inconvenience this may cause in the market but this is to ensure that Samsung continues to deliver the highest quality products to our customers. We are working closely with our partners to ensure the replacement experience is as convenient and efficient as possible”

Moving forward

The tech giant is quite serious in resolving this issue. It is evident from their official statement where they clearly accepted the issue of battery. Furthermore, they have also ceased the sale of the newly launched smartphones. Samsung will even replace the current devices with the new ones for every customer who have already bought the devices.

It is expected that this problem will be resolved very soon. However, this might dent the credibility of Samsung in the longer run. There are even slight chances of hesitation among the customers especially while buying Galaxy Note 7 in the future.

There are certain questions that arise following the reports of exploding batteries. Did Samsung not test the product vigorously before launching it? Did the tech giant not come to know about this defect? Well, the company needs to answer these questions once they overcome this flaw.

What are your thoughts about this whole issue?
