Saudi-Palestinian firm invents solar-powered umbrella for Muslims performing Hajj

Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage and an obligatory religious duty for all Muslims. It should be carried out by Muslims at least once in their lifetime provided they are financially and physically fit. A Saudi-Palestinian firm has invented a solar-powered umbrella to assist Hajj pilgrims during the days of religious activity.

Co-founder of smart umbrella, Manal Dandis while explaining the features of solar-powered umbrella stated:

“The umbrella is equipped with solar panels. These solar panels absorb solar energy and transform it into electrical energy, which is stored in the handle”

Key features of solar-powered umbrella

The multi-purpose umbrella comes with a fan, flashlight and a navigation system to meet the needs of Muslims during Hajj. The solar-powered umbrella transforms the sunlight into electricity which is later used to generate power to explore umbrella’s distinguish features.

There are actually 3 buttons in the handle of the umbrella. The black button which is placed at the top is for the GPS. The blue button which is placed at the center of the handle is for the fan. The yellow button is for the flashlight.

Every year, thousands of Muslims perform Hajj. Subsequently, people do lose track of their loved ones in massive crowd. The GPS system was created to help pilgrims locate each other in case a person loses track of another.

The parasol also contains 3 USB ports. The notion of the ports it to charge mobile phones as well as other electronic gadgets.

Moving forward

A Saudi-Palestinian firm is now looking for investors for their product to start mass production of smart umbrellas.
