Shahbaz Sharif approves Rs. 15 billion Khadim-e-Punjab project for schools

There are no second thoughts that education plays a vital role in the life of an individual. Therefore, to enhance the level of education, the Punjab government has approved Rs.15 billion Khadim-e-Punjab Schools Programme project.

A formal approval was granted under the leadership of Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif in a high-level gathering. The meeting was attended by several government officials in Lahore.

What does the program include?

According to the plan, number of additional classrooms will be constructed in the schools all across Punjab. The primary objective of this program is to improve the educational facilities for students in the province. Moreover, it is also worth mentioning that besides the construction of additional classrooms, rehabilitation work will also be carried out to improve the conditions of old schools.

The chief minister also approved the designs of the classrooms during the meeting. He stated that the whopping amount would be used to establish additional classrooms in 16 districts of southern Punjab. In addition, top companies would be recruited to carry out the construction process while using top-notch technology. Shahbaz Sharif also added that a committee has already been formed to monitor the activities of Khadim-e-Punjab school project.

Another objective of Punjab government is to groom the talent on the grass root level by providing better educational facilities. Subsequently, the students will excel in their studies and would be able to challenge others at domestic and international stage.

Education – government’s top priority

Education is among the top priorities of the government. Thus, to improve the level of education, the government allocated Rs. 313 billion for education in the current financial budget. Additionally, the government has also awarded 150,000 scholarships worth Rs 7.5 billion to bright and deserving students. Students who do have enough means to bear their educational expenses will be able to study with this scheme.

Likewise, teacher induction program was also launched by the government to impart better education to students. It is hoped that Punjab government and other provincial governments will continue to provide quality education. The move will also hopefully reduce the illiteracy rate in Pakistan.
