Sumail Hassan and his team bagged 3rd position and wins $2 million at DOTA tournament

Pakistan’s prodigy Sumail Hassan and his team, Evil Geniuses (EG), have secured 3rd position at the DOTA2 2016 International Championship. Moreover, the team also won prize money of whopping $2 million. The championship got concluded over the weekend where teams from all over the world participated.

Sumail Hassan and his team were defending the title after being named winners in the previous edition. They were looking to achieve a rare feat of winning 2nd title in a row. However, they lagged behind in their pursuit and grabbed 3rd position after they Digital Chaos knocked them out by 2-1. Subsequently, they secured 3rd position and that left them with Na’Vi for most top 3 finishes in the tournament’s history.

The first spot was grabbed by Wing’s Gaming who won prize money of $9.1 million. On the other hand, the team which beat Pakistan’s EG secured $3.4 million after obtaining 2nd position.

Sumail Hassan – the genius

Sumail Hassan hails from Karachi who started playing DOTA at the tender age of 7. His parents started to get worried about his future after the sensation developed massive interest in the game by 10. The genius spent too little time in his studies. He disbursed plenty of his energy scraping up impressive amateur credentials in DOTA2.

After 4 years along with his family, Sumail shifted to Chicago. His talent was factually unleashed after moving to the US. He started to play DOTA on faster internet connections and lower pings. In no time, he was a well-known gamer by doing exceptionally well in the North American in-house gaming league. He established himself as one of the finest emerging talents.

In January 2015, one of the biggest e-gaming team Evil Geniuses recruited him on the basis of extraordinary gaming skills. Credentials of the wonder boy

Sumail Hassan made his debut for EG on 6th January 2015 at the Dota2 League Season 5. During the first season, he failed miserably to create an impact. His selection in the team was questioned by critics. However, he made a solid comeback later by proving his worth as a gamer during the February DOTA Asia Championships.

One of his best performances during the event was in Game 3 of the finals. He managed to get a score of 0-3-0 on Storm Spirit before the three-minute mark. Sumail Hassan also led his team to capture $1.2 million after winning DOTA Asia Championships title. He achieved this feat at the tender age of 15 after finishing score of 17-7-11 in his second-ever LAN event.

Due to the brilliance of Sumail, EG won another title in 2015 as they secured a colossal amount of $6.6 million. The accomplishment also made Sumail the youngest player ever to surpass $1 million in eSports winnings.
