Telenor Group has today selected Irfan Wahab Khan as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Telenor Pakistan. It is the very first incident of a Pakistani becoming the CEO of Telenor ever since they started their operation in Pakistan.
After acquiring 850MHZ spectrum license and becoming only 3rd 4G operation in the country, Telenor Pakistan is now planning to make 4G network available in Pakistan within next few months as stated by the newly appointed CEO of Telenor Pakistan, Irfan Wahab Khan.
In a statement made today, Irfan Wahab Khan said on the day of becoming the new CEO:
“Global economy has moved on to Internet and segments like health, education, agriculture and literally everything else that is capitalizing the benefits of internet. That’s exactly where we are moving towards now with largest 3G network in Pakistan and 4G network that would be available in matter of just few months”
Telenor Pakistan is really looking forward and the new CEO foresees tremendous amount of opportunities and colossal potential available in the data segment that Telenor is geared to tap in.
Irfan Wahab made sure that Telenor Pakistan is fully committed and looking forward to serve nationwide market. However, he also stated that his company is also working on the numbers for the investment that would be essential for the network rollout. He stated that:
“We have just invested $395 million for the spectrum while more funds will be poured in to the network during next two years to offer Pakistani customers the best in class 3G and 4G networks”
Moreover, the CEO was quite gratified after Telenor managed to win 850MHZ spectrum. He was of the view that afresh attained spectrum has its unique pros which includes rural reach and in-building penetration. While making another statement, he also stated that Telenor is best positioned to offer premium internet in both rural and urban markets with new spectrum along with the higher bands.
